Forbes said that PBF is the highest paid athlete. Does it mean that boxing is also the top paying sport?

Location: exactly where i should be....
boxing is top heavy, meaning there are very few fighters that command ridiculuos amounts of talent fee.

i think if you'd get the median for the top 100 highest paid athletes of various sports, soccer would come first.

mayweather is the ONLY boxer making his kind of money.............. pac is next................... after them two, the salaries shrink way, way lower..................

No, boxing is NOT the top paying sport over all.................

but the highest salary to a single person???? it CAN be, not necessarily, but it can be.............. not everyone can make floyd's kind of money............... or delahoya, or holyfield, or tyson's kind of money................

Not necessarily. Boxing tends to top the list if there is an exciting and appealing boxer who can make a run for a particular year. (Mike Tyson was the top earner in 1996.) 2012 is the year of Boxing as both Mayweather and Pacquiao sitting atop as Nos. 1 and 2. Prior to 2012, Tiger Woods (Golf) was the top earner among athletes for 10 consecutive years (2002 - 2011). During this time, his annual earnings range from a low of $69 M (2002) to a high of $115 (2008). Most of his earnings where from product endorsements. IMHO, he could have maintained the #1 position for 2012 with at least $100 M (tops Mayweather of $85M) had it not been for the scandal (adultery) and subsequent divorce followed by several months of winless tournaments (not including taking time off from the game). These events cost Tiger a lot of sponsorships which comprise a big chunk of his annual earnings. If Mayeather and Pacquiao do not fight each other in 2013, I believe both of them will be toppled from their #1 and 2 positions although, probably still good enough to place among the Top 20, that it, if they continue to fight for that year.

Incidentally, Michael Jordan (Basketball) was the highest athlete earner in 1997 ($78M) and 1998 ($69M). Prior to Tiger's run, Michael Shumacher (Auto Racing) topped it 2 consecutive years.

Mayweather and other boxers made their money from their sport with ZEREO endorsements. Jodan, Tiger Woods and the other athletes make most of their money from endorsements instead of ther sport.

at the average, its soccer and nba who have higher salary cap
boxing only has mayweather and pac that can command higher pays
cotto is the third boxing biggest draw and his highest earnings was $10M for mayweather fight & $6M for pacman fight
against b-type opponent, cotto could only wish for a million dollar pay

The NBA has a salaray cap. Major League Baseball in America doesn't have a salary or payroll cap. The New York Yankees have a payroll of over $250 million per year with their stars A-Rod making $28 million, Sabathia making $23 million and so on.
