Yes he truly loved the Philippines and the Philippine sports in particular.

He was granted Filipino citizenship in 1973.

His close ties with Marcos forced him away from the limelight when the latter was ousted. This did not deter him to permanently move out of the Philippines. Instead he came back and became a big commentator of Philippine sports.

He spoke our language fluently and was very proud to call our sports using this during broadcast.

And even in advance age he still continued to work because of his passion and love of Philippine sports. He could have retired early and enjoyed the fruits of his labour but he did not.

RIP Ronnie

I can't believe Mr. Nathanielsz is gone. It was just a few days ago that I heard about his heart attack. I had the fortunate opportunity to see him last year in Davao City at an Ala Boxing Promotions fight ringside. I just "knew" I was going to see him again commentating for another fight. And now he's gone. Just like that. He's gone. I will never get to meet him again. He has contributed greatly to Philippine sports and he will be sorely missed. His positive attitude and the smile on his face when I greeted him is something I will never forget. Good bye sir Ronnie. You deserve a 10 Bell Salute for the next Ala Boxing Promotions Pinoy Pride 39 fight in Cebu City this November 26, 2016. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

BTW, guys, if you are 40 or older, cut down on meat .
And research unclogging arteries.

I am 44, life is short and make the most of it. I will start eating more of veggies, fruits. No mo re pork and beef, only chicken breast.

Condolences...

Death -- the last sleep? No, it is the final awakening.

Requiescat in pace.
