Balay Negrense Lifestyle Museum

Image Image

Is was one of the ancestral homes located in Silay City Negros Occidental, it was originally built in 1897 for the family of Don Victor Gaston Y Fernandez, son of Frenchman Yves Leopold Gaston who was one of the pioneers of the sugar industry. It was restored and turned into a museum in 1990 by the Negros Cultural Foundation.

Balay Negrense was entirely constructed of wood and stone. A vast hall occupies the first floor and leads into the big hall on the second floor through a grand stairway. The 12 bedrooms surround the space with shutters hemmed in by carved transoms and permanently aired by trade winds.

The exhibits includes some of the heirloom of Negros prominent families (such as furniture, household items, glassware, etc.) Arranged as a lifestyle museum, Balay Negrense is also available for social functions, like wedding receptions.

Namit kansi sa aton kay gina usar pang pa aslum batwan.

Restaurants:

Looking for seafood and local dishes.

Imay's restaurant in Bacolod:

PALA-PALA. One should not miss this place! This is like the Dampa in Manila. One buys the fish, crabs, shrimps and the lot and bring it to a chosen eatery to have the food prepared. Fee is dirt cheap, and the fish are fresh and appropriately priced. Of course, lobsters and tiger prawns are expensive, but if on a tight budget, one can feed a family of four for less than P800 in Pala-Pala.
