Ahead of Manny Pacquiao’s title defending fight of his 147-pound belt against former four-division titlist Adrien Broner January 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs) would not rule out the possibility of a rematch with Floyd Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs).

In preparation of the showdown, Pacquiao has reunited with legendary trainer Freddie Roach, who was not in Pacquiao’s corner in his last fight in Malaysia where he won by KO for the first time in nearly nine years.

Buboy Fernandez compared the 40-year-old Pacquiao’s present form and movement to his condition when he fought Briton Ricky Hatton and Mexican-American Antonio Margarito.

Pacquiao dismissed concerns that he has lost the knockout power following his 12th round KO win over Miguel Cotto in 2009 to win, for the first time his seventh division belt.

Pacquiao and Mayweather came together courtside at the Los Angeles Clippers game Tuesday where Pacquiao was the guest of honor on Filipino-Heritage Night. During a commercial break, Pacquiao was throwing out t-shirts to the crowd when he approached Mayweather– who was also sitting courtside– and dapped him up. Mayweather smiled and laughed at the situation, while a member of his group gave a serious glare.

The promoters had earlier sent out a media alert announcing that Pacquiao and Broner would alternately hold open workouts at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood with the challenger taking his turn first followed by champ an hour following.

Marcos Maidana punished Broner, winning the fight via unanimous decision and giving Broner his first loss as a professional. The judges scored the fight 115-110, 116-109 and 117-109 in favour of Maidana. Broner immediately left the ring following the announcement. Fans booed and threw drinks at Broner as he made his way back to his dressing room.

In the second round, a left hook by Maidana sent Broner down for the first time in his career. Broner recovered and seemed to be on the verge of taking control over a tiring Maidana, but a Maidana right to the body followed by a left hook to the head once again put Broner down in round 8.

Broner lost a unanimous decision to Shawn Porter with scores of 118-108, 115-111 and 114-112. In the 11th round Broner was deducted a point for excessive holding. Porter who dominated the majority of the fight, was sent to the canvas by Broner in the 12th round. Pacquiao has also generated approximately 19.2 million in pay-per-view buys and $1.2 billion in revenue from his 23 pay-per-view bouts.
