Country braces for tropical storm 'Megi'
(philstar.com) Updated October 15, 2010 01:46 PM Comments (2)

MANILA, Philippines (AP) – A super typhoon is barreling toward the eastern Philippines, prompting authorities to mobilize rescuers, open up evacuation centers and put army troops on alert.Weather forecasts say Category-1 Typhoon Megi is expected to strengthen with winds of at least 93 miles (150 kilometers) per hour as it makes landfall along the northeastern coast of the main island of Luzon this weekend.

On Friday, the weather bureau warned fishermen and travelers to stay out of harm's way and farmers to harvest crops early. It expects heavy rainfall of 2 inches (50 millimeters) per hour.

More than 100 people were killed by a typhoon in July, when an angry President Benigno Aquino III fired the head of the weather bureau for failing to predict that the storm would hit Manila.

It is better for it to rain in the ocean because Angat dam will surely release water again just like what they did during Ondoy last year :(

That's right bro c_p. The President should hold emergency meeting with the Mayors of Metropolitan Manila and the heads of the Dams. Outright clearing and dredging of all creeks, rivers and all water tributaries leading to the ocean is a must. The local government of MMLA. should have started this sort of project after the sad experience in last year's Ondoy where thousand residents were swept away out of their dwellings after the three nearby dams released huge amout of water for fear of dams to crack.

Wala pa naman bro dwight. As of the moment, no rain, partly sun shine and partly cloudy lang here in MMLA, trees stand still no movement of leaves na parang nakikiramdam what is yet to come.
So generally, the weather is fair so far.
