China Builds Subway Station In The Middle Of Nowhere

Nearly everyone has experienced driving in an unknown area and accidentally turning down a dead-end street. It sucks, but that happens when you’re unfamiliar with the area. Or, perhaps instead of a dead-end road, you end up on one of the world’s “bridges to nowhere.” However, new images of a Chinese subway station, literally in the middle of nowhere, show that the situation can be much stranger than anyone imagined.

Image

Many Chinese cities are going through major construction booms. As populations swell, the government struggles to maintain the necessary infrastructure. That’s one reason traffic is so bad. As a result, carpooling in China basically involves clown cars. All of this explains why people loved the straddling bus. However, with that bus a bust, subways are China’s new hope. For instance, take the city of Chongqing. The urban center in southwestern China has a population of nearly 9 million people. To help move that many residents, there’s an expansive subway system. Currently, four lines exist with two more scheduled to open by 2020.

Image

Although there are plans for additional subway lines, government administrators may want to tap the brakes. The Caojiawan Station on Line 6 opened in 2015. Inside, gleaming blue walls and dazzling black stone floors greet travelers. There’s also a full complement of transportation officers and security guards, too. The impressive sight inside the station leads to the unbelievable contrast when a passenger leaves the station. The stairway ends at a concrete block in the middle of an overgrown, abandoned field. The view is the same for miles in each direction. The scene could easily be from a post-Apocalyptic movie.

Image

The Caojiawan Station does not connect to any highways or other modes of public transportation. As a result, anyone getting off at that stop needs to be shuttled by van to their destination. The local government defended its decision to build the subway to nowhere as a sign of its long-term planning. Other officials in the national government, however, blame the weird situation on the fact that road and subway construction are handled by two separate government departments.

Thai pen1s whitening fad drives social media nuts

Image

BANGKOK: A Bangkok clinic that has drawn 100 men a month to its ***** whitening service has caused a stir in Thailand, with social media users both baffled and alarmed by the phallic fad.

The Lelux Hospital, renowned for its body whitening expertise in a country obsessed with skin colour, began offering the unconventional treatment six months ago after a male customer complained of "dark parts" on his groin.

"These days a lot of people are asking about it. We get around 100 clients a month, three to four clients a day," Bunthita Wattanasiri, a manager for the Skin and Laser department at Lelux Hospital told AFP.

The procedure, which uses laser whitening, got wide play on Thai television and social media on Thursday (Jan 4) after the hospital released images of a man undergoing the treatment.

"We have to be careful because it's a sensitive part of the body," Bunthita said, adding most clients were aged between 22 and 55-years-old with many from Thailand's LGBT community.

She said they use a very small laser.

The same hospital stirred controversy last year for touting a cosmetic procedure called a "3D ******" in which the customer's own body fat is used to make genitalia more plump.

The whitening service costs around US$650 for five sessions.

"I think it's a good market to enter so we offer the ultimate body treatment to our clients, either men and women," Bunthita said.

Whitening and bleaching are not uncommon in other parts of the world and are widely offered online.

But they are particularly sought-after in Thailand, where skin-whitening ads have caused outrage and accusations of racism.

"The obsession ... people nowadays can't embrace their own skin color," said one Facebook user.

Another user Parin Ruansati posted: "Oh god ... what ever happened to the world?"

Another had a lighter response, writing "why not?".

MANILA, Philippines — Following recent reports that one of the Manila-claimed features in the
South China Sea has been transformed into a fortified airbase, the Philippine government insists
on pursuing dialogue with China.

"The Philippines pursues cordial but frank dialogue with concerned parties on the issue of the South
China Sea through various bilateral and multilateral platforms," the Department of Foreign Affairs
said in a statement.

Chinese state broadcaster China Central Television recently aired aerial photos of Fiery Cross
or Kagitingan Reef in the Spratly Islands, which is now a 2.8-square kilometer airbase.

Man booted out of his village after locals ‘caught him raping a pregnant goat’

A MAN named Rambo was kicked out of his village in Africa after neighbours caught him raping a pregnant goat.

They caught him assaulting the animal after hearing its anguished bleats from his bedroom in Ugo, Nigeria.
They forced his door open and caught him having intercourse with the animal, the villagers said.

The alleged pervert, named locally as Shina Rambo, was eventually taken in by the authorities.

But not before his captors handed out their own humiliating justice by parading him naked in public with the goat.

Men, women and children jeered as Rambo, in his 20s, sat on the ground with the animal tied around his neck part of the time.
