This is what makes our race unique on planet earth. We somehow always self-destruct.

World Music (Journey) forums never mentioned anything negative about the flag waving.
If there is, I'm sure the poster is a Filipino. :D

That's the US of A, where the term "Freedom of Expression" is a mantra among its citizens. What seems to be your problem? 8)

well, not always. But it's in the US that journey will be reviving their glory mainly, not in the philippines. Arnel needs to capture american, Australian, from all over the world audiences.

I believe the reactions here would have been different if that Pinoy was waving an American flag or a Caucasian American waving a Philippine Flag, noh?
I have this feeling that some people here are just ashamed of our flag being shown in the limelight. I'll tell those guys next time to just bring and wave a U.S. flag instead so that all this biatching would stop.

if they were many, then I guess their actions are spoiling Arnel Pineda's carreer. if tha s just a single person waving the Philippine flag then its just ok. Kanya kanyang trip lang yan.

Alright then, let's get the facts straight. Somebody was waving our flag. And Arnel indeed waved the Philippine flag. But it's not like he brought the flag with him to wave it on the concert. The guy was waving the flag right in front of him while he was singing. The guy extended the flag to him and he took it and waved it then returned it to the owner. It's to acknowledge his pinoy fans out there in Vegas, and there were soooo many of them that night. What's wrong with that? And to correct you guys, you can see different flags in so many music concerts everywhere. And it's Vegas, you can even wave your underwear there!

It's not really a cheap thing to do, is it cheap? By whose standards, by Americans? Let's not be so overly afraid of what Uncle Tom would say! Arnel earned the right to be with Journey, so people should give him a break.

And people saying he's a copycat? My God, how ignorant people can be! He's in a band, he has to sing songs from that band. Did you see the concert? He sang new songs from their upcoming album. So its not like he'll forever sing what SP, SA, or JSS sang way back. Kung hindi kayo nagpapanggap, and if you guys are really Journey fans you would notice that Arnel's voice is distinctively different from Perry's. Arnel makes his voice is more coarse, more rock-ish. And I like it even better than Perry's, and to be honest, Arnel's voice has better range and more dynamic than Perry's.

Hirap kasi masyado tayong takot sa mga kano eh, remember pantay pantay lang tayo. Their not over us, hindi natin sila Panginoon. Hindi na tayo sakop ng America. Masyado kasi nating nilalagay ang sarili natin sa ilalim ng ibang nationalities lalo na pag America, Japan or Europe, masyado tayong matatakutin, it's disgusting and makes my stomach turn!

Journey had proclained that they are not an American band only, they believe they are an international band, so they defended the move of getting Arnel on board. Heck, even their past frontmen were not pure American, even Perry who's of Portuguese roots! Time and again it has been proven that real music fans go for the music, not for the race of the singer or the band. And it's not just in the US where journey sells their music, its around the world!

I see nothing wrong with what Arnel or that pinoy guy did. It's just a little thing that nobody really noticed except fearful pinoys. Wag na tayong mainggit. Hay ang pinoy nga naman.

Just enjoy the music you guys! Peace!

Hi Art, I saw all the vids and all of the flag waving there are all perfectly fine. The jamaican flag during a reggae concert, the bulgarian flag In Bulgaria, the Nova Scotia flag In Nova Scotia, the dutch flag In Netherlands. Nothing wrong there.

But I agree that the waving of the Philippine flag in the Journey concert in Vegas was a bit misplaced. And this is not a problem with my patriotism either. I would wave a flag in a boxing match, in olympics or in beauty pageants. I would even drape a Phil flag in front of my house.

I won't say that the waving of the flag in the Vegas concert was nakakahiya, coz it's not really a biggie. I cant think of any other similar situation coz Arnel's case is really unique, but I can picture a Rivermaya concert and a person from the audience waving a poster that says 'Make us proud Rico! Mama and Papa loves you'. It's cool alright, but it's not appropriate for the situation.

I placed the vids because some posters said flags should only be waved in sports events not in concerts.

If Arnel will sing an OPM or a tagalog translation of a Journey song in a Journey concert like what the Italian singer did (its a Spanish concert, Spanish band members) to flag waving filipinos, some pinoys will find it inappropriate and will find him shameful and bash him and the flagwaving filipinos on the internet. Agree?

If the concert in Bulgaria is a Journey concert, Filipinos will say that Arnel is a shame, insulting the Bulgarians by displaying their flag upside down and desecrating it by using it as a towel by draping it on his nape wet with perspiration. some pinoys will find it inappropriate and will find him shameful and bash him on the internet. Agree?

They put almost everything under close scrutiny: accent, height, looks, color of skin, stage presence, wardrobe, did not hit the right note, flag waving, etc. setting too high a standard for the artist so they can call them failures.

World Music (Journey) forums never mentioned anything negative about the flag waving.

Arnel did his best during the concert and what did we do.....negative comments on flag waving?

Instead of making positive threads, we always find fault........

You're an idiot.

Nitpicking on something as little as this? I bet you American fans or any other fans for that matter wouldn't not even care AT ALL about the flag.

If you see nothing wrong with Italian fans waving Italian flags because one of the Spanish band member is Italian then it should be alright with you if one Pinoy will also wave one tiny Philippine flag.

She ask permission to sing in Italian for her Italian fans. You see nothing wrong if Arnel will ask permission from Journey to sing a Tagalog translation of a Journey song? If ever Arnel will do that, I'm sure his "kababayans" will bash him again. Agree?

If some people see nothing wrong about it, how come we Filipinos make a fuss about it?
