Happy 'Araw ng Glan' on Oct. 8 :D

salamat boss Shiva....

Quick facts about Glan, Sarangani Province:

The municipality of Glan is the southernmost tip of the Philippines. It is the second largest supplier of copra in the country. It has beaches, rich fishing grounds and an international port.

Mayor Victor James Yap Sr poses alongside the photo of Sarangani congressman Manny Pacquiao inside his office at the Glan Municipal Hall in Glan, Sarangani.

Glan is the oldest municipality in the region and traces it’s origin to 1914. Glan Mayor Victor James B. Yap, Sr. told Philboxing that Manny Pacquiao spent his early childhood days in this town. He spent his early elementary school years here and it was in Glan that he started his brief amateur boxing career. Who would have thought he would become a seven division world champion, an elected congressman and the region’s walking tourist attraction?

The town now has weekly amateur tournaments and Mayor Yap feels that the country’s next boxing superstar will once again come from this area.

Philboxing would like to thank the people of Glan for supporting the fight game.
