AL KHOBAR: All Filipino nationals in Saudi Arabia are advised to register their names and contact details with the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and at the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah.
A registration form is now circulating within the Filipino communities, and is available with accredited community organizations. Filipinos are urged to contact Filipino community groups in their respective cities for more details.
Filipino community organizations will compile the completed registration forms, and create a database in their respective regions. The database of Filipinos in the Central and Eastern Regions of the Kingdom will be submitted to the embassy in Riyadh, and the database of Filipinos residing in the Western Region will be submitted to the consulate general in Jeddah.
The information requested in the registration form includes (a) name, (b) passport number, place of issue, and date of issue, (c) Iqama number and validity, (d) complete address in Saudi Arabia, (e) telephone and mobile phone numbers, and (f) name, address, and contact information of employers, such as email address, telephone, and fax.
Filipino workers deployed in the Kingdom on family status are also urged to register the names of their dependents and their contact information.
In addition all Filipino nationals are also requested to register the names and contact information of their families in the Philippines.
The registration of all Filipino nationals is part of the contingency plan prepared by community organizations and the Philippine missions in the Kingdom.
The latest advisory of the Philippine Embassy to Filipinos dated March 15, 2011 reiterated the statement of the Ministry of Interior that the Kingdom strictly prohibits all forms of demonstrations, marches and sit-ins and any call for such actions, and advised all Filipino nationals in the Kingdom to comply with the ministry’s statement and to observe all laws, rules and regulations of the country.
In general, the embassy advises Filipinos to be alert to their surroundings, avoid crowds, and unnecessary movement especially during the weekend.
The Philippine Embassy hotline numbers are: Riyadh +966 536 881 787, (01) 482 3559; Eastern Region +966 501 269 742; the Consulate General hotline in Jeddah is +966 555 219614.
