The problem is he was told that he is ready enough for a big fight despite the fact that he should fight another tune-up fight before he can fight for a world title... this is a biggest mistake by ALA management.. they rushed AJ....

Not necessarily. You say he was rushed, yet so many other posters say he's been fed a steady diet of 'bums'. It's always one or the other.

I think Rafael Concepcion was in the right vicinity of competition for AJ. Though he lost, I (as well as so many others in here) think he could've (should've) won it. A few adjustments here in there and he could be an interim world champion now.

Concepcion wasn't a softy (obviously), but he wasn't a dominant world-traveled veteran either (as seen in his pre-fight record of 10-2-1).

AJ lost. No need to complicate it by reading too much into what the trainers did or did not do I suppose.

I don't think AJ has been fed bums.

I honestly think there's a great difference between a Pinoy fighter and a Latino fighter. What could be a world champion prospect for us could be an average fighter for them. Concepcion was brought to be a competitive opponent but expected to fold under AJ's punches.

So what's your message then? That Filipino boxers suck, or just ALA boxers?

It doesn't matter how good your coaches are I don't think they can teach an athlete to have "heart".

AJ was tested last Saturday not his skill but his heart or willingness to win, and he failed.

Just my thoughts. 8)

at least boomboom lost to a champ and he was not in his home court

ang masakit kay aj, he lost to an inexprienced fighter (lesser fights than him), someone who has a unimpressive record, and he was playing in front of his countrymen.

that's tough for a young boxer...

That's because there is no need to compare whose loss was worse?
In their loss, there is no "at least..."

The good thing is if they take it positively, they will come back stronger than ever.

Kaya nila yan.

Let me donate my WORLD CLASS "success" formula :

Education = student + teacher + institution (system of education)

Entertainment = performer + trainor + studio / company

Sports / Boxing = athlete / boxer + coach / trainor + system (training, techniques, tactics...)

In international Football and Basketball when the teams underperform the coaches are fired.

. . . Science . . . Money . . . Talents . . . plus a bit of lack but no room for superstition !

Both were exposed in their championship fights.

Both were hyped as the second coming of Manny Pacquiao and both were exposed. LOL!

One his chin, the other his heart.

Which one is more undesirable, Chin or heart?

I've still have high hopes that Banal, Boom2x, Gorres and all others pinoy boxers who suffered defeats will comeback and prove all their critics wrong. Kailangan lang ng determinasyon at mausay na trayning...

Why I still want to believe?

Manny suffered a devastating KO loss to Torrecampo but still manage to win titles, so as Gerry who loss also to Duran before winning his first championship belt. :)

I tell you guys, the boxers of ALA gym can never reach their goal if their present trainors will be the ones training them for the rest of their careers....Time for a cool change brothers.......

Just curious, how did you know that AJ is overrated?

Manny has 2 ko losses early in his career and his style was not something to be desired. He was no stranger to the canvas. Now he's been up against the absolute best and never went down once. Can a fighter actually improve on his chin? This seems to be the weakness of the ALA boys for some reason. Mayol and Boom2x (chin), Gorres and Banal (stamina). Is it the nutrition? They're never getting out of the contender status unless they improve on conditioning.
