Banal is ok, but too small weight, a min weight like Donaire weight. Both won't make it to Pacman status, but Donaire may have a chance if he goes to the divisions where he is not the big guy. Let's see if he can do it or just be content to be the big guy in his division.

Mercito Gesta is one to watch. Totally untested, but at least he is in a good weight division and he can still move up (for more mega fights). If he falls, then so be it, we look again.

Has Banal learned how to use his jab yet? Or does he still rely
on the power punches much like Bernabe Concepcion does?

With 24wins 19KO 1Defeat He could be the next Pacquiao of the Philippines. He should start now to fight the other bantam champions.

His only 1 Loss came from Rafael Concepcion. He was dominating that fight but because of his overtraining and lack of potassium the fight made his body collapse. And now we see a more improved AJ Banal.

I can say that Banal is one of the underrated boxers of the philippines.

seryoso ka ba?
o di mo lang nakita yung acting job na ginawa niya sa previous na laban?
kaya this time they gave him a bum opponent para siguradong panalo na siya at di na kailangan mag-acting to have the referee save him kasi if he gets up he knows he's in danger of being ko'ed.

he quitted sa laban ni concepcion. after the 10count tumayo kaagad.
napagod lang siya kasi ang ginawa niya sa laban na yun is aiming for the KO every round, kaya ayun exhausted.
di niya inexpect na kakayanin ni concepcion ang power niya.

nag-acting sa laban niya kay perez. banal was very groggy before that illegal "soft" punch which he made it look as if it's a hard punch. tumingin pa nga siya sa referee to make sure na nakita ng ref yung gapang2x acting niya.

next pacquiao? really?
pacquiao never quits.
pero sa acting ginawa rin ni pacquiao yan, laban kay barrera. pero the difference is banal did it to save himself from losing if natuloy ang laban. pacquiao did it to force the refereed to deduct 1 point from barrera.

next pacquiao? no way!

you see, thats what those useless "pinas vs the world" brings to the naive fans, a false sense of level from the pinoys, lets analyze his opponent from last fight..

ok, overall record is "won 29 (KO 17) + lost 9 (KO 7) + drawn 2 = 40"

hes been defeated 9 times 7 by ko, that right there rises an eyebrow, but then digging deeper we will see that the guys he beat were bums, just look at the records, most have more lost than won and even green bums with 2-2-1 records, i mean c'mon, where did they get this guy?

this is frickin ridiculous...

:biglaugh:

opponent AJ Banal 118 23-1-1

Loss TKO 2 12

Juma Fundi 14-4-0

Win UD 10 10

Friday Mugoya 1-6-1
Win TKO 6 10

Anthony Kariuku 2-2-1

Win TKO 7 8

Issa Chalamanda 2-2-1

Win TKO 1 8

Ramadhani Shauri 4-1-1

Win TKO 5 6

Rashid Ally 13-11-7

Win KO 1 6

Mbwana Matumla 17-3-0

Loss UD 12 12

Juma Seleman 3-5-1

Win TKO 1 6

Said Chaku 5-14-0

Win RTD 3 8

Zolani Tete 112 9-0-0

Loss TKO 1 12

Nick Otieno 14-1-0

Loss KO 1 10

You have too much hatred on other pinoy boxers except pacquiao... Boxing is no Drama you'll understand when you get in the ring. YDKAS!

Aj's pretty damn good. He gets gassed easy, but he has very good skills. He can work on conditioning.

You think he'll be the next Pac in terms of skill or popularity? Skill-wise, if he works hard enough, he can come close. But he can't work on heart and determination. Let's see though. Too early to tell.

And I'm not sure if he's charismatic enough (or controversial enough) to pull any interest from fans worldwide.
