So lost to Ding Liren in a four-game friendly match last year as per Google. Would like to know their head-to-head matchup.

It looks like they are evenly matched 'though Wesley is about 10 points ahead of Ding Liren in the latest ELO ratings. They are about the same age. Ding is 24 to So's 23.

A win Vs Ding Liren will propel Wesley So in the Finals and will already complete our current Project: To qualify for the WC Candidates Tournament (not counting to qualify by rating).

They seem even on classical, just 18.6 difference in rating, but he has big advantage in rapid, 90 pts difference.Wes should just play solid and not force a win in the classic if the game is drawish, he has better chances in the rapid. Of course, he knows this already.

1 win and a draw, and Wes qualifies for the Candidates regardless whether he wins the World Cup Final Match or not

one last strong push, Wes
