I think Wes really needs a better support system. Example, a coach/trainer that can continue to hone & challenge Wes’ chess mind & in general.

I am not sure how things are with him today. I hope you still have the “tiger” in you and believes you can be the best.

Instead of just settling down, be satisfied with a top 10/20 accomplidhment. It is not shaby btw, but Wes’ projection, from being a young GM, I hope is still in the right curve.

I will stay away from any personal matter. Stwy within the game, opinion. :)

Goodluck bro!! :) we are proud of you.

Btw, Susan Polgar is a great teacher. Perhaps she can help? Seek your support system/people that can help you properly.

I liked Susan Polgar & Wes FB pages. And solves Susan’s online quizzes. Seeing her activities & teaching stints. She is great. Looks like it.

Btw, I know nothing. He he. Just a fan.

She was Wesleys' coach during his Webster university days.

and hindi yata maganda ang paghihiwalay nila. wala man lang reference ng Webster university or susan polgar sa wiki page ni Wesley. na sa tingin naging ko malaking part ng chess career nya. marami syang naging achievements during that time.

Thanks sa sagot kabayan! :). Sana maayos ni Wes mga bagay n dapat ayusin.
But fyi, sakto sa topic, Susan’s article she posted sa FB why stagnation occurs sa young talent sa chess:
https://gamesmaven.io/chessdailynews/as ... dTfsH3kmA/

I hope makarating kay Wes then perhaps he can decide to further take his talents/skills(!) to next level.
Learn from Su How to do it!!!!

I believe that as she has long line of exposure in chess world.

One more thing, I think try to think of hiring a coach/trainer as an investment. Think of yourself as a business. Which you are Wes.

Your business is yourself/skill. The investment is money/effort for proper training. From a tried/proven source.

What is better, not to invest and achieve/reach this level (top 10 max)?
Or invest $, then reach your full potential? (World candidate/chanpion! Perhaps to be a kegend/great chanpion!)

The $ return is higher in the 2nd. From winnings, sponsorships, etc... it will pay for itself and more.

I hope this helps enlighten. :). Getting $ from placing is perhaps big enough for people who does not “see” your full potential. Who may not have this mindset.

Go for broke! You have the talent, boy. :). Leave Lotis Key’s turf if that does not support your dreams.

The problem with Susan, is you have another guy to contend with i.e. her hubby.

I think they were hard with Wesley then, especially with his personal life. Kulang sa compassion & understanding dealing with a young kid then who is growing up especially pag pinagbawalan mo makipagkita sa crush (maganda kaya ang daughter ni Lotis).
I've read about that sa comment ng roommate ni Wesley then at Webster. Hahaha.

Maybe you are wondering why Wesley stick with Lotis & her family who are Christians? Abangan na lang natin ang kabanata sa near future.

Actually, Wesley is looking for a top level coach, yong pagkaalam ko si Yasser Seirawan sana ang gusto ni Wesley kaso busy naman si Yasser doing live commentaries sa Tournaments.

Hopefully he could find one. :)

Glad to hear from you Brother Joey. I have long been having the idea that Seirawan would be a good coach for Wesley. My impression of Mr Seirawan is that he is understanding, compassionate, patient, and knowledgeable. He also exudes confidence in his disposition, after all, he was a former world junior champion.

I remember him giving Wesley some advice after the unfortunate incident at St Louis when some people Wesley was not expecting to see showed up and adversely affected his mental preparation for that tourney, a major one at that. I thought he acted like a father figure for Wesley during that moment.

Anyway, I don't know much about him, as much as I don't know much about the real score in Wesley's life. I can only speculate and hope for the best for Wes.

Chess news related to Gibraltar International seems far and few in between. The top 5 based on ranking (Vachier, Aronian, So, Yu, Nakamura and Navara in order), So placed 11th ahead of the rest with the top seed (Vachier) placing 13th, second seed (Aronian) 24th, fourth seed Yu (12th just behind So) and Nakamura, the fifth seed (16th). In other words, the top 5 seeds performed a bit miserably. I don't know how much So earned in this tourney. Perhaps, bro. Joey can provide the info.

For 11th place its 1500 pounds. But of course Wesley do have show up money by just participating dont know how much. Additionally all expenses paid for by Gibraltar organizers.
