CONGRATULATIONS TO HYPER-GM WESLEY SO FOR BECOMING THE FIRST FIDE RANDOM FISCHER WORLD CHAMPION!

The scheduled matches against classical world champ Carlsen had to be shortened after Wesley continued his total destruction of the supposedly invincible world’s #1.

Final score: 13.5 - 2.5

At this point, world rankings are mere numbers. Beating the best makes you THE BEST!

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS NEWLY-CROWNED WORLD CHESS CHAMPION FILIPINO WESLEY BARBASA SO!!!

Does this win increase the ELO ratings of Wesley?

To think, that Wesley does not even have a coach or a second and people that could help him...maybe he does not really need all these people around him...maybe having people around him to tell him what to do will only make matters worse for him. Just my opinion, though.

Wesley So, totally dominated world no. 1 Magnus Carlsen with 4 wins and only 2 draws and it was so crushing that he clinched the title with six rounds to spare. The first game of the 3rd day alone, Wesley could have beaten Magnus but decided to accept the draw via repetition of moves. In the second game, Magnus went all out but Wesley is in a zone by giving Magnus a slow death instead.

It would appear that Magnus, the unofficial FIDE Fischer Random World Chess Champion of 2018 never recovered after 1st day as Wesley completely demolished him in the 2nd day and it continued until 3rd day.

Wesley's run in the whole final stage of the event is so totally thorough that he did not even suffer any single loss, which shows his supremacy in this new chess variant. He admitted it himself that he really likes it since its inception.

Congratulation, Wesley!

Congrats Champ! His reliance on himself without a coach fits this tournament concept!

No. Fischer Random Chess is also known as Chess960
It is different from Classical Chess.

Wes doesn't need a coach or seconds for FRC/chess960 since the 1st-row starting positions are random. Theory and guessing opponent's opening prep is unnecessary.

wow

Congrats Wes 8)

sa tingin ko dito lumabas ang true playing strength ni Wes, unfettered by the "modern" professional chess requirements of a full-time second/coach/trainer...

I think everybody in the international chess world realizes this as well.

mod miron, tantiya ko baka nga naamoy nila nuon pa lang, kaya ginipit na palagi si Wes akala siguro pagdating ng araw yes sir yes sir na lang si Wes......

yung university games siguro ang naging litmus test nila.....they wanted to "flex" what they thought was their overpowering control over the kid :(

just my 2 cents
