now I know why their mini restaurant was closed, they moved to Manila.. :D

his coach is his father. may i correct that Alekhine is a FIDE Master and the youngest in the world.

Come on. Wesley So is too shy.

Chess is not for the meek.

Like Fischer and Kasparov you have to be oozing in confidence to the point of being brash about your talent and ability.

He has reached his plateau... sorry to say and disappoint.

how do you know he reached his plateau? and what are you talking about being meek? are you saying that chess is not for Anand, Carlsen and Aronian?

Oo naman. Basta desidido yung bata na i-career ang chess at siyempre suporta sa gobyerno at mga kababayan natin, may potential yan.

That's how I size him up. If you have a different point of view I respect it.

He is a nice boy, very likable. Too good to be nice but not good enough for WORLD CHESS CHAMPIONS. whinz is talking here of world chess champions and not your mere super elite GM. I don't consider Anand, Carlsen and Aronian as being meek, they are oozing with confidence. Wes seems to have phobias: Giriphobia, and Russophobia.

In fact I would love to root for him but...I hate frustration.

His father is also a Fide master just like Carlsen's dad.

When was the last time the Philippines held a National Tournament for Chess? And who was the National champion?

so by your definition, Anand doesn't have confidence then for having Kasparophobia, Carlsen with certain players he hasn't won against convincingly and Aronian as well. it is clear now that what you are saying is a matter of opinion, not because it holds some real bearing.

If that's how you look at Anand and Carlsen how can I fault you. Feel free to opine.

it's too early to say that IMHO... :)

Wes may become a world champ 1 day, but I don't think he would be a very dominating one (ala Fischer, Karpov, Kasparov, et al)

It is really quite ambitious for any government to try conquering the basketball world with a team comprising of midgets. Chess talents are abundant and the extra funding will indeed can go a long way in developing chess. Chess improves critical thinking among the young and it is important for a nation to dwell on brainy people who knows how to solve problems....

link please :biglaugh:
