Gangnam Style clicked not because of its Korean lyrics
but because of its musicality. You could replace Korean with
French, Russian, Swahili, and wait--even Tagalog (or any
local dialect) and the music (video) would still click.
It is rap, a genre that's attuned to the standards of the
day. Plus, it helps that the artist Psy winks at the listening
audience when he does his spiel. The song doesn't take itself
seriously rather with levity and plays it to the hilt-...
The horse dance! Really now. Watch the video again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vy-zilON8kSilly always has its place in the cockles of a fun-loving
heart.
As long as the melody, harmony, and tempo of the song is
universal, a song in any language will work and will be embraced--
Pie Jesu, La Vie en Rose, and someone mentioned,
Dahil sa Iyo,as examples.
Silent Night is originally German.
The real test for Psy(cho) is if he records another song in
Korean that will top the Billboard charts, again. If he does,
then Freddie Aguilar can start gloating. Otherwise, the
William Hung effect only proves itself right--yet again.
The Macarena would be so proud.

Quote:
“Kasi, di ba, what monkeys see, monkeys do.
Rapper PSY sang his way to the billboard charts growling in mostly korean lyrics, yet the world is dancing to it...
Good points Bro.
