Pacquiao-Hatton in Dubai?

The Las Vegas Review Journal has reported that the proposed May superfight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton could end up in Duabi, United Arab Emirates. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum recently visited the region, which he described as “Fantasyland. Huge, new, spectacular buildings everywhere.” Arum added that the city has a large Filipino population and strong UK tourism.

I think they're (the big bosses) starting to feel it's not gonna sell in the U.S. 8)

yup the city has a large filipino population but those filipinos are called the HELP...they cannot afford the tickets in dubai...bad move if they make the fight there.

especially since the maids, and cleaners who are filipinos cannot afford.

They're not all maids ... and there are a lot of foreigners. Bored, they will welcome the entertainment.

But it won't happen, Arum is just promoting Dubai for some friends of his probably :)

i think uncle bob was thinking of a neutral ground where it would be fair
for both britons and pinoy fans. and dubai is that place.

Arum won't risk holding this fight in an uncharted territory like Dubai. It's going to be in Las Vegas because PPV.

As far as I am concerned Las Vegas is a neutral ground for both fighters....neither Manny nor Ricky are americans.

yeah i agree, but considering pacquiao's fights had been mostly in las vegas
with huge filipino fans, i think i'd consider that as his best fan base outside
the phil. most likely, hatton's fans would be outnumbered if the fight venue
would be in vegas.

If ARUM want it in Dubai, we could not stop him anyway. He is better thinker than us. So, wether it will happen in Dubai or in Las Vegas, Manny must double his preparation for the fight and that must be our concern anyway. Hatton is not a patsy fighter and more powerful than dela hoya basing from his latest fight against paul ma'lgi. 8)

Dubai is a nice venue in fact it is even better that Las Vegas but it hasn't been tested yet. They should have a not so big fight first like the Margarito-Mosley to study if the place is worth giving a risk for a megafights. If they will do that, maybe next Paman's fight will held in Dubai.
