I think it will be a little more competitive but still Pacquiao's southpaw stance will give De la Hoya a myriad of problems. Not to mention the type of speed whilst coming off from the southpaw stance. Mosley was able to frustrate De la Hoya with speedy combinations even in doing so in merely a more straightforward approach. Pacquiao on the other hand, come's blazing from god-knows-where angles and every shot comes with mean intentions.

i give a PRIME dela hoya the edge... oscar was a good fighter in his prime, wicked left hook, one of the best jabs in the business and the size and height will give him the advantage if he's in excellent shape...

i say OSCAR by UD or late KO.............

According to my calculations, Oscar by split decision. It would have been a helluva fight.

Oscar.

Freddie Roach said himself that he would never dream of pairing the two together when Oscar was younger, but the time was right because Oscar could no longer pull the trigger.

why need to make a time warp if we can call doraemon..heheh just joking..

i think it would be oscar delahoya..he is so strong and a bit fast when he was on his prime..
he is my idol when i was young..90's era..
i think pacs speed and footwork won't work against a prime mosley, prime delahoya and prime mayweather..

On the contrary, Pac vs Dela Hoya at lightweight or super lightweight is a very competetive fight.. Although Oscar was very powerful at this weight, he was having troubles with left handed fighters and Pacquiao on the other hand fights well and defends well against left hook/cross or whatever punches that comes from the left. Pacquiao is weak in defending overhand right and straight hand that is why Marquez gave him the best fight. And to support my claim, Oscar was never big right hand puncher. I go for Pac via close UD. No stoppage because Oscar has one of the best chins in the business.

Pacquiao by Split Decision. size won't be much of an issue. if you might recall, in his prime oscar faced another slick southpaw with almost the same physical attributes as pacquiao, then pound for pound #1, Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker, who was around 5'6 or 5'7.

although all three judges scored it for dela hoya by a wide margin, many believe, myself included, that what took place was a highway robbery. it was a close match that could have gone either way, similar to to the Pacquiao-Marquez clashes, and i gave it to whitaker thanks to a late round flash knockdown.

let's also remember that dela hoya had a tendency to fade in the late rounds, which was most apparent in his two fights against shane mosley and in his match versus tito trinidad. manny, on the other hand, usually gets stronger as the fight goes on. i see him rallying towards the end and outworking oscar to take the late rounds and run away the decision victory.
