If Ponce de Leon loses his belt on June 7, I think Gerry should start thinking retirement. Unless of course he needs the money which I think he doesn't anymore. He almost retired before and I think he knows how it is to be remembered as a champ who retired after losing his belt and failing thrice to get it back.

Anyway. Here's to Gerry idol! I remembered watching him before when I was a kid as an amateur on channel 9, and that fight where he KOed Hurtado by swinging to his side and planting a sweet body shot was just unforgetable...of course there were other fights but that's how I want to remember Gerry Penalosa by, and not as fighter who lost his belt and failed to get it back chasing in-joo-cho and Tokuyama around the ring.

For that matter, I'd want all Pinyo boxers to retire as champs . . . not just Gerry. :D

Gerry is my idol in the ring. What Gerry accomplished is very rare in boxing. Retiring, and after 10 long yers, holding the title again. I can't think of a Bantamweight that did that. Flyweights/Bantamweights normally retire at early 30s and with their skills faded. Stll at 36, Gerry's skills are still woth thim, less a bit of speed and power. I hope Gerry retires too as a champ.

.....and with enough money to last him 2 lifetimes. Titles dont mean shet if your pocket is empty.
