It's been 4 weeks since the Gayweather v. Ortiz fight and still, no word from HBO as to the true PPV sales. Numbers and guesstimates have been mentioned: 1.7 M to 2 M (Golden Girl Promotions, hype), 850K (Steve Kim, hearsay), Nine, Nine, Nine ("Marley the Magnificent", humor), 500K (Brad Cooney, rumor).
Only HBO can clear this mud. So, HBO what is the true figure? I ask you to speak now or forever hold your piece (peace).
I have the same thoughts like yours Bro...
If you compare the time length of the HBO's (PPV Buys)announcements of Floyd's past fights; with his most recent fight with Ortiz, obviously, there's something fishy going on with the counting...
1.) Mayweather vs Marquez(Sep. 19, 2009) HBO announced the PPV buys(1.0M) after only
( 6 days). Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing ... id=4502922 (sep.25)
2.) Mayweather vs Mosley (May 01,2010) HBO announced the PPV buys(1.4M) after only
(10 days).Link: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing ... id=51809413.) Mayweather vs Ortiz(Sep.17,2011) still
no (PPV buys) announcement from HBO until now
(about a month)Is HBO hiding something or are they just trying to protect Floyd's ego? hmmmm,...makes me wonder
