Good luck sa Philippine football next year! Mabuhay!

A bit off-topic, but still UFL related

UFL mulls joining AFC President’s Cup

The United Football League is cooking up plans of sending a team to the Asian Football Confederation President’s Cup, a competition for third-tier clubs in the region.

UFL president Randy Roxas said in the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum that the league has discussed that possibility with the Philippine Football Federation.

“I think it’s the right tournament for us because some Southeast Asian teams are competing there, and [the requirements of] hosting the event in terms of stadium requirements isn’t as stringent,” said Roxas.

Philippine Air Force will likely represent the country after nabbing the UFL Cup title last week.

The President’s Cup features club teams that have won in their domestic leagues such as Bangladesh, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Tajikistan.

Meanwhile, Roxas said that he sees a “changing of the guard” in the league competition which begins on January 14.

He said that perennial powerhouse teams Air Force, Army and Navy will encounter stiff opposition from emerging clubs Kaya Cignal, Global FC and Loyola Meralco as proven in the UFL Cup.

“All teams have shown that they are competitive while the low-rank teams have also beefed up,” said Roxas.

The league competition will have a different format from the recently-concluded UFL Cup. Ten teams will make up the first division in the league competition with the club with the most points after meeting all the teams twice emerging as the champion.

The UFL is coming off a successful cup tournament with the Chieffy Caligdong and Ian Araneta-powered Air Force defeating the Loyola Meralco Sparks of Phil and James Younghusband, 2-0, before 6,000 fans at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.

The UFL Executive Committee has decided to expand the 2nd Division to twelve (12) clubs!
source: https://www.facebook.com/UFLPhilippines

UFL 2nd Division for 2012

ImageImageImageImageImage

New teams:
*these are new teams because they were not part of the league in the past years. They joined the UFL Cup 2011, and have now formally joined the league :D
ImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

-----------

The newcomers make the 2nd division just as exciting as the 1st division!

Pachanga FC is a strong team, and was at the top of Group C during the UFL Cup 2011.
A group that included Global FC and Stallions FC!
They reached the quarterfinals too.
They got eliminated by Global FC during the knockout stages, by a score of 0-1.

Diliman Victory Liner was 2nd in Group D during the UFL Cup 2011.

Cebu Queen City, although they have not won a single game during the UFL Cup 2011,
was reported to have been holding try-outs to beef up their squad.

Who will get promoted to the 1st division? :D

With the addition of teams from the south, I hope that they hold games in the Visayas region if the teams are both from Visayas :D
