"He went to the hospital with bleeding kidneys, and me, I went dancing with my wife."
—George Chuvalo

Believed to have possibly the best chin in boxing history, George Chuvalo went the distance with Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali twice. Chuvalo was never knocked down in 93 professional fights. Even Ali answered Chuvalo when asked who was the toughest heavyweight he ever faced. Chuvalo lost the fight, but left healthy. Ali won the fight, but paid dearly for his victory.

Mike Tyson On His Childhood:
"One morning I woke up and found my favorite pigeon, Julius, had died I was devastated and was gonna use his crate as my stickball bat to honor him. I left the crate on my stoop and went in to get something and I returned to see the sanitation man put the crate into the crusher. I rushed him and caught him flush on the temple with a titanic right hand he was out cold, convulsing on the floor like an infantile retard."

Muhammad Ali being interviewed by Howard Cossell -

Cossell: You seem awfully truculent today, Champ."
Ali: I don't know what truculent means, but if it's good, I'm that.

Joe Louis: He can run but he can't hide.

Mike Tyson: I want to rip out his heart and feed it to him. I want to kill people. I want to rip their stomachs out and eat their children.

Sugar Ray Robinson: My business is hurting people.

Story has it that the night before defending his welterweight title on June 24, 1947 against Jimmy Doyle, Robinson dreamed that he would kill Doyle with a left hook. Robinson was shaken by the dream and tried to pull out of the fight, but the promoters called in a Catholic priest to reassure him that his worries were unwarranted and that he must go through with the fight. In the eighth round, just as in the dream, Robinson hit Doyle with a devastating left hook. Doyle was carried from the ring on a stretcher and died the next day without regaining consciousness. At the coroner's inquest, Robinson was asked if he knew Doyle was hurt, and he replied, "It's my business to keep fighters in trouble when they're hurt."

Sugar Ray Leonard v. Thomas Hearns, Sept. 16, 1981. Between Rounds 12 and 13 -

Angelo Dundee to Leonard: You're blowing it, son! You're blowing it!
