That's if it happens, and at this point it is still a big "if."

I think it all depends on whether Mares and Donaire will still have viable opponents left to fight at 122. I think Donaire will fight Rigondeaux next, while Mares will find someone else to fight. If they run out of opponents to face, and the money is good enough, I think we'll see them fight.

It could absolutely be a PPV fight.

Mares has no fanbase that would justify PPV. Nonito has a sizable fan base but not big enough to piggyback Mares for PPV. As an undercard of a PPV main event with FMJ or MP,..yes!

Mares is twice more popular than Rigondeux. Rigo should not be given an opportunity that early, he has only ten wins in his record it would be unfair for other boxers who has fought and won more than 20 fights.
