PHP103-M worth of ‘shabu’ seized in Pampangaby Philippine News Agency
August 10, 2016MANILA — Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) seized an estimated PHP103 million worth of methamphetamine hydrocloride or ‘shabu’ from a Chinese national in a dismantled warehouse used as a storage facility in Angeles City, Pampanga, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday.
SHABU LAB RAID – Plastic bags containing ingredients for making shabu fill a room inside a warehouse in Barangay Lingonan in P. Santiago, Valenzuela City, which was raided on Friday by a team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Anti-Illegal Drug Group. Four Chinese nationals were arrested during the raid, and one of them was killed when he shot it out with the raiding team.
(Camille Ante / mb.com.ph)PDEA Director General Isidro S. Lapeña identified the suspect as Yiye Chen who was arrested inside the warehouse.
Chen is suspected to be a member of 14-K syndicate, a transnational drug group operating in the Philippines.
Lapeña said that the facility was discovered in a house along Jasmin Street, Hensonville, Barangay Malabanias, Angeles City, Pampanga.
Armed with a search warrant, joint elements of PDEA Regional Office 3 (PDEA RO3) under Director Emerson Margate and PDEA Regional Office-National Capital Region (PDEA RO-NCR) under Director Wilkins Villanueva, raided the suspected shabu warehouse last Aug. 5.
Seized during the operation were one plastic bag containing suspected shabu, two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, one plastic container containing liquid shabu, one plastic container of suspected shabu, 25 pieces of self-sealing plastic bag containing more or less 30 kilograms, with an overall estimated value of PHP103 million.
“PDEA operatives have been monitoring the place since last month, thanks to the information given by a confidential informant,” Lapeña said.
Chen will be facing charges for violation of Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and is now under the custody of PDEA-NCR.
