MANILA, Philippines — A female police officer and former beauty contestant is President Duterte’s new aide.

The appointment of Senior Insp. Sofia Loren Deliu as aide-de-camp came on the heels of the resignation of special assistant to the president Christopher “Bong” Go, who is running for senator in the midterm elections next year.

But Go emphasized Deliu is not his replacement.

The President announced Deliu’s new task in his speech at the 2017 Philippine Quality Award and conferment ceremony at Malacañang yesterday.

In his remarks, Duterte called her Go’s replacement.

“She’s Bong’s replacement. Stand up... Face them. Stand up,” he said while introducing her to his audience. Go served as Duterte’s aide for more than two decades.

Deliu, a Filipina-Romanian, was a contestant in the Ms. Earth-Philippines competition in 2015. She was then already a member of the Philippine National Police.

The President stood as godfather in Deliu’s wedding to P/Insp. Abdul-Bassar Abdurajak last March in Zamboanga City.

With her appointment, Deliu was also promoted to captain yesterday.

Deliu was among the first women police officers detailed as security officers of the President soon after he assumed office in 2016. She entered the PNP Academy in Cavite in 2006.

While she serves as Duterte’s aide, Deliu will not have Cabinet rank and will not be called SAP, or Special Assistant to the President, a title created for Go.

Sources said Duterte might no longer appoint a new SAP. Two people are reportedly handling the functions that Go used to perform.

Sale must go on: Trudeau sticks to $12bn arms deal with Saudis despite Khashoggi killing

Quote:
Canada’s PM says it is “very difficult” to drop the US$12 billion (Can$15 billion) deal on arms sales to Riyadh. It comes despite mounting allegations that the killing of the Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was “pre-planned.”
The murder of the self-exiled writer which Turkey says was planned beforehand “is something that is extremely preoccupying to Canadians, to Canada and to many of our allies around the world” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau acknowledged. However, even on the heels of the latest tough accusations from Ankara, the North American country is not mulling to halt arms deliveries to the Saudi Kingdom.

wahahahahahaha :celebrate:

human rights "advocate" nga walang duda hihihihih :bounce1:

This is how we fared for the past 8 years:
GCI 2017–2018: 56 (out of 137)
GCI 2016–2017: 57 (out of 138)
GCI 2015–2016: 47 (out of 140)
GCI 2014–2015: 52 (out of 144)
GCI 2013–2014: 59 (out of 148)
GCI 2012–2013: 65 (out of 144)
GCI 2011–2012: 75 (out of 142)
GCI 2010–2011: 85 (out of 139)

When Duterte took office, our ranking has slid down. Vietnam is one rank ahead of us at 55 and it seems their economy is in a momentum to be just get stronger and stronger. They are growing their BPO industry with a young populace getting better education. It is scary to think about what will Vietnam be in 5 years.

I am not discrediting the Duterte administration as I am just providing facts. And what these facts are showing is that we need to have our priorities reviewed, short term and long term.

I am quite scared of our future. I hope the current administration will pulls us back to where we should be: better than the rest of Southeast Asian nations.
