Bellew: If I Rejected Usyk Fight, Decision Would Have Haunted Me

Tony Bellew claims he would have been “haunted” had he turned down undisputed world cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk’s challenge ahead of this weekend’s showdown.

Bellew was seemingly on the verge of retirement after burnishing his legacy with a brace of stoppage victories over British rival David Haye in his two most recent outings.

Usyk, though, called out Bellew immediately after triumphing in the World Boxing Super Series to unify the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles at 200lbs.

Oleksandr Usyk Blasts Tony Bellew For Knockout Win in Eight

By Keith Idec

Tony Bellew was anything but the overmatched mark many considered him Saturday night.

Eventually, though, Oleksandr Usyk’s skill and strength were just too much. The unbeaten Ukrainian southpaw ended what had been a very competitive cruiserweight title bout by blasting Bellew with a left hand that knocked out the popular British boxer in the eighth round at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England.

Several left hands Usyk landed earlier in the eighth seemed to affect Bellew. Then, with Bellew backed toward the ropes, Usyk uncorked a straight left hand that dumped Bellew flat on his back with 1:10 to go in the eighth round.

Bellew landed awkwardly, as his head hit the bottom rope. The brave Bellew attempted to get up, but referee Terry O’Connor waved an end to the bout with Bellew on his knees.

The 31-year-old Uysk (16-0, 12 KOs) retained his IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO cruiserweight championships.

Tony Bellew: This is Definitely The End For Me

By Elliot Foster

Tony Bellew was knocked out as he bid to be a great.

The Liverpool cruiserweight took on Oleksandr Usyk at Manchester Arena.

Bellew, who challenged the undefeated Ukrainian for the WBC, WBA Super, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine world cruiserweight titles, was stopped in round eight by a thunderous left cross disguised by a sensational jab.

Usyk vs Bellew: Oleksandr Usyk knocks out Tony Bellew to retain titles

Oleksandr Usyk didn’t cruise, but he knocked out Tony Bellew in Manchester. Oleksandr Usyk didn’t have an easy time with Tony Bellew today in Manchester, but he found the momentum and violently finished things in the eighth round of a very good fight, retaining his WBC, WBA, IBF, and WBO cruiserweight titles.

Usyk (16-0, 12 KO) started a bit slow, and Bellew (30-3-1, 20 KO) showed more craft than many gave him credit for coming in. Usyk’s trademark jab wasn’t pumping the way it usually does early on, and Bellew was able to find a home for several good right hands in particular.

Arum: Golovkin Already Beat Canelo - He Should Face Ramirez!

By Miguel Rivera

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum sees no reason for middleweight contender Gennady Golovkin (38-1-1, 34 KOs) to jump over to streaming service DAZN for a trilogy fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

He believes the former IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC world champion should instead move up to 168-pounds for an ESPN pay-per-view fight with WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez of Mexico.

Golovkin was last seen in action back in September, when he suffered the first defeat of his career by way of a close twelve round majority decision loss in his rematch with Canelo. He fought Canelo to a controversial twelve round split draw in September of 2017.

Horn Realizes That He Must Be Dominate Mundine To Impress

To get his boxing world title back Jeff Horn knows simply beating Anthony Mundine in Brisbane at the end of the month is not enough.

Horn knows nothing less than a dominant victory over the 43-year-old former NRL player will do in the eyes of international opponents and promoters.

The 30-year-old's reputation took a hit in June when he surrendered his WBO welterweight title by losing to American Terence Crawford in his first professional defeat.

With the pre-fight details finally ironed out, the World Boxing Association welterweight championship encounter between Filipino defending titlist Manny Pacquiao and American challenger Adrien Broner is definitely pushing through.

Pacquiao’s chief legal counsel, lawyer Tom Falgui, assured in a telephone interview that the 12-round title fight will definitely be held January 19 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Mayweather Says Nasukawa Fight is Back, Terms Being Finalized

Former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather told TMZ Sports that his fight in Tokyo against Tenshin Nasukawa is back on.

Mayweather, 41, announced in September a ‘huge boxing event’ in Japan and made it official Nov. 4, announcing a ‘super bout challenge’ against 20-year-old Japanese kickboxing sensation Nasukawa on December 31 in Tokyo.

He backed out three days later, saying he’d been conned with the fight details, and is now insisting a mere week later “we’re going to make it happen.”

UK News: Sean Dodd, Shaquille Day, Lewis Crocker, Benson

After appearing on the big stage, you might think Sean Dodd would be reluctant to go back to the small hall circuit again.  For the last few years, the 34-year-old has been a regular fixture on big arena shows live on Sky Sports, but ‘Masher’ says he can’t wait to tread the boards again at the Liverpool Olympia on November 30.

The upcoming VIP Promotions card is headlined by a fan-friendly clash between local prospects Liverpool’s Tom McGuinness and Skelmersdale’s Colin Day yet, despite being a former Commonwealth Lightweight and WBC International Champion, Dodd has no problems appearing on the undercard and knows from experience the atmosphere will be electric.

Colombian bantamweight Yeison “El Mulo” Vargas will be experiencing a number of career firsts in the Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, and live on Boxeo Telemundo, on Friday, November 30.

That’s when Cartagena’s undefeated Vargas (17-0, 12 KOs) will face Mexico’s Ricardo Espinoza (21-2, 18 KOs) for the WBO-NABO Championship in the 10-round main event of promoter Kris Lawrence and The Heavyweight Factory’s (in association with All Star Boxing) “Rumble at the Rock III” event.
