"Numbers don't lie and Boxrec told the truth. It is what it is", according to Mayweather. That is after he is listed by Boxrec as the greatest boxer who ever lived!!

When I saw the list on the link below, I was half-confused and half-happy of it. Half-confused because the writer put Mayweather at the top. Half-happy because Pacquiao is on Top2.

The truth is I could not find the Boxrec list webpage that Mayweather instagrammed, for me to properly comment. I wonder if the list was just made by Mayweather because if it was truly made by Boxrec, and their analysis is based on perfect record as what the former mentioned, then why the ancestor of Mayweather, who is Rocky Marciano, could not even crack the Top25.

I hope that The RING, ESPN, WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO, BWAA, and other famous acronyms in boxing followed the footstep of Boxrec in placing Mayweather at No.1 to symbolize him as the Most Treasured of the treasured National Treasure of the US.

Once all are done, and being KNOCKED-OUT in the rematch, I hope that they give Pacman his due place on their lists because I know that the use of Lidocaine/Xylocaine and other PEDs by Mayweather will take their toll in the rematch.

I wonder how BoxRec arrived at those points. In basketball, they use PER to rank a player’s efficiency based on various possible stats. Obviously, being undefeated makes a good case but how come Marciano wasn’t ranked in the Top 10 (or how about Calzaghe?). I don’t think The Ring or BWAA will use some kind of metrics to rank greatness. It will always be subjective but always on a good measure of criteria like a boxer’s overall achievements, skills, dominance and even appeal and charisma.

They found a way to put Floyd in No. 1; good thing is - Pac is at No. 2. This won’t convince Floyd to rematch Pac now; he thinks he’s already the TBE so why risk it vs. No. 2 who's currently on a rampage?

Mayweather proved his greatness when he beat McGregor and Tenshin...
I hope all boxers will be like him.

Thanks boxrec for telling the truth...

Mayweather is indeed the GOAT!!!

Boxer of the decade (2011~2019) will further validate his greatness... :D

You have to be blind to even put Pac ahead of FMJ. But nationalistic sentiments can easily fool oneself.

Those who participated in the voting process are all americans

So we expect they will disown floyd?

"I hope that The RING, ESPN, WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF, IBO, BWAA, and other famous acronyms in boxing followed the footstep of Boxrec in placing Mayweather at No.1 to symbolize him as the Most Treasured of the treasured National Treasure of the US."

That's never going to happen because experts at these organizations are not that stupid. They know that Mayweather is not the best boxer of all time. He's probably the best boxer within his generation but not of ALL TIME.

1st of all, most Americans don't even know who Mayweather is. You can walk down the street anywhere in America, show Mayweather's picture and over 50% can't even tell you who he is. Athletes who are more qualified as a "Most Treasured National Treasure of the US" are Americans like Michael Jordan (basketball), Michael Phelps (swimming), Tiger Woods (golf), Tom Brady (American football), Lebron James (basketball), Kobe Bryant (basketball), etc. Most Americans don't even watch boxing compared to other sports so they won't even know who Mayweather is. So to call him the "Most Treasured National Treasure in the US" just ain't true and most Americans will agree.

As far as being the best boxer of ALL TIME, I don't see other organizations following suit. If it's based on his undefeated record, there are other boxing champions who retired undefeated as well around the world. Ricardo Lopez from Mexico retired with a 51-0 record, which is better than Mayweather's record of 50-0. In fact, Lopez was undefeated as an amateur and was a Golden Gloves champion in Mexico for 4 years undefeated. Mayweather lost 4 times as an amateur and was Golden Gloves champion for 3 years. So not only did Lopez have a better professional boxing record but a better amateur record as well. Mayweather did become champion at 5 weight classes while Lopez was champion in 2 weight classes. Nobody's heard of Lopez because he fights in the lighter weight classes but skill-wise and boxing record-wise, he's been undefeated longer than Mayweather and had more knockouts at 38 w/Mayweather at 27.

Another undefeated champion with a better record than Mayweather is Jimmy Barry who fought from 1891 to 1899 with an official record of 59-0 with 40 kos. Nobody's heard of him but he was also undefeated with a better record than Mayweather. Rocky Marciano was also undefeated at 49-0, Joe Calzaghe was undefeated at 46-0, Andre Ward was undefeated at 32-0, Harry Simon was undefeated at 30-0, Terry Marsh was undefeated with 26-0, Pichit Sitbangprachan had a 24-0 record, Ji-won Kim at 16-0, Sven Ottke at 34-0, among others. There have been many boxing champions who retired undefeated and not just Maweather and some with better records. So having an undefeated record don't make Mayweather the best of all time.

Mayweather had a big mouth and knew how to market himself to catch everybody's attention, which is out of Muhammad Ali's playbook. That had a lot do to with why he's well known and not simply having an undefeated record. He did beat many champions in each of the 5 weight classes. He's definitely one of the best of all time, and probably the best of his generation, but not The Best of ALL TIME.

The general consensus is that Sugar Ray Robinson is the best boxer of all time. He was undefeated in 91 fights between 1943 and 1951. He was also undefeated as an amateur at 85-0. He turned pro when he was 19 and by the time he was 30 he had a record of 128 wins & 1 loss. Mayweather only has a 50-0 record. In 1940 he was not allowed to fight for a world title because the mafia, who controlled boxing at the time, wouldn't allow him. So he had to keep beating the best out there, fight against racism, and fight against the mafia just to earn a shot at the title. White Americans preferred to see white champions so they made sure Robinson didn't get a chance but after he kept winning, he eventually got a shot. He eventually become Lightweight, Welterweight, Middleweight and Light heavyweight champion. He also fought 3 to 4 times a MONTH while Mayweather and other boxers today fight 2-3 fights a YEAR. His greatest rival was Jake Lamotta who he fought 6 times with Robinson winning 5 and Lamotta winning 1. Mayweather and other boxers today don't fight the same guy 6 times. Pacquiao fought Marquez 4 times and got knocked out in his 4th fight. Plus, Robinson fought all over the world and not just in the US. He's fought in 12 countries outside the US to include Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Trinidad & Tobago, Austria, Dominican Republic, Canada, Jamaica, and Mexico. After Mayweather got cheated in the Olympics, he vowed to never fight in any country outside the US. He only fights in Las Vegas because Nevada is the only state that allows him to take an illegal injection to numb his hands called Lidocaine and also so he can get the hometown advantage which is why he moved to Las Vegas and only fights there. Do you think if Mayweather fought in 12 countries where his opponents get the hometown advantage he would still be undefeated especially with the way he's been fighting at 147? I doubt it. Try having the rematch between Mayweather vs Pacquiao in the Philippines and let's see if Mayweather will win a decision there. At least Robinson fought in 12 countries knowing he could be at a disadvantage. Out of the 12 countries he fought in he only lost 4 fights.

Boxrec will probably be the only organization that rates Mayweather as the best boxer of all time. Most boxing historians and boxing experts will agree that Sugar Ray Robinson is the best boxer of all time and not Mayweather.
